Fast, Mobile Door Glass Replacement

Whether it was a break-in, a rock from a lawn mower, or a window that dropped into the door and shattered, a missing side window is urgent. You can't lock the car, the interior is exposed to sun and rain, and glass ends up everywhere. Cano's Auto Glass handles door glass replacement at your home, office, or yard so you don't have to drive around with plastic taped over the opening.

We replace front and rear door glass on cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans, and we bring everything needed to finish the job on-site.

Common reasons side windows break

  • Car break-ins and vandalism, especially in parking lots and on the street overnight.
  • Rocks thrown by mowers, trimmers, or passing trucks.
  • A worn window regulator that lets the glass bind or fall inside the door.
  • Doors slammed hard in cold weather, or minor collisions and sideswipes.

What to Do Right After a Side Window Breaks

Most side windows are tempered glass, which is designed to break into many small pieces instead of sharp shards. Those pieces end up inside the door, in the seat tracks, and on the floor. Until we arrive:

  • Take photos of the damage. If it was a break-in, file a police report, since your insurance company may ask for it.
  • Remove valuables and anything you don't want exposed.
  • Cover the opening with plastic sheeting and painter's tape to keep out rain and dust.
  • Don't use the window switch. Running the motor with broken glass in the track can cause more damage.
  • Park in a garage or a secure spot if possible.

Be careful when brushing glass off the seats. Tempered pieces are less dangerous than shards, but the edges can still cut. Gloves and a shop vacuum are your friends, and if you'd rather not deal with it at all, leave it for us. Full cleanup is part of the job.

Our Door Glass Replacement Process

  1. Match the glass. We confirm the exact part for your vehicle, including factory privacy tint and whether your door uses tempered or laminated glass.
  2. Open the door panel. The interior panel is carefully removed to reach the window regulator and channels.
  3. Remove every piece of glass. We vacuum the inside of the door, the seats, the floor, and the tracks so nothing rattles later.
  4. Install the new window. The glass is set into the regulator and run channels and aligned so it seals against the weatherstrip.
  5. Test it. We run the window up and down, check the seal, and confirm the switch works.
  6. Reassemble and clean. The door panel goes back on and we do a final cleanup.

When the window regulator is the problem

Sometimes a window breaks because the regulator or motor failed and the glass came off track. We inspect the mechanism during the job and let you know what we find before going any further.

Side Window Replacement for Cars, Trucks, Limos, and Fleets

We work on all makes and models. That includes everyday sedans and minivans, work trucks, luxury and sports cars, box trucks, semi trucks, and crane cabs. We have even replaced the full set of side windows on a stretch Hummer limousine.

Newer vehicles increasingly use laminated side glass for noise reduction and security. It looks similar but is installed differently, and we account for that when we order your glass.

Luxury and sports cars often have frameless doors or windows that drop slightly when the door opens. Those need careful adjustment so the glass seals tightly against the roofline without wind noise or leaks. Our technicians have more than 20 years of experience with these details, so the finished window should look, sound, and work like it did from the factory.

For businesses, we can come to your yard and keep downtime short. Learn more about our mobile auto glass service.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you replace my side window today?
Same-day appointments are often available when your glass is in stock. Call or text (714) 718-4692 with your year, make, and model and we'll check.
Will you clean up all the broken glass?
Yes. We vacuum the inside of the door, the seats, the floor, and the window tracks as part of every door glass replacement.
Is a break-in covered by insurance?
Glass damage from a break-in is usually covered under comprehensive coverage, minus your deductible. A police report and photos can help with your claim.
Will the new glass match my factory tint?
We order glass that matches your vehicle's factory privacy tint where it applies. Aftermarket tint film is not part of the glass and would need to be reapplied.
My window stopped working before it broke. Can you fix that too?
A failed regulator or motor can cause the glass to break. We inspect the mechanism during the job and tell you what we find before doing anything else.
